The University of Glasgow, founded in 1451, is the fourth-oldest university in the English-speaking world. Located in Scotland, the University of Glasgow is ranked 77th in the world in the QS World University Rankings 2021.
In 2019, the Nankai University-University of Glasgow Joint Ph.D. Program initiated enrollment. This program would be completed in English, and upon graduation, two Ph.D. degrees from both NKU and the University of Glasgow would be awarded to candidates who meet the requirements.

II. Documents Required
1. A digital copy of the Application Form of Nankai University-University of Glasgow Joint Ph.D. Program (Attachment 1)
2. Evidence of English Proficiency Level
3. Research Proposal (as in Attachment 2 Guidelines_for_writing_PhD_Proposals)
4. For the newly established majors/subjects, a course description and a syllabus in English must be submitted by the schools to which the subjects correspond
5. The digital copies of mentioned documents submitted to the relevant personnel by June 30th, 2021
III. Tuition and Fees
1. The tuition fee of the University of Glasgow differs from subjects. The 2021/22 fee of the Modern Languages and Cultures Ph.D. program was £19,350. All students should pay for the tuition fee while studying at the University of Glasgow unless indicated otherwise.
2. Students under the joint Ph.D. program should also pay for the tuition fee of Nankai University.
IV. Program Structure
1. Students should spend equal years in both Glasgow and NKU, following an arrangement of “2+2” or “1+2+1”. All students must be admitted through the official NKU postgraduate enrollment procedures approved by the Ministry of Education and complete their first year of study at Nankai University.
2. Each student under the joint Ph.D. program would be mentored by two English-speaking supervisors from both NKU and the University of Glasgow.
