Founded in 1919, Nankai University's postgraduate education can be traced back to 1928. Since the founding of the National Southwest Associated University and New China and the reform and opening up till now, Nankai University has been engaging in postgraduate education and training for more than 80 years. As a multidisciplinary and research-based university with equal emphasis on Liberal Arts and Sciences and a complete range of disciplines, Nankai University has formed a unique postgraduate education and training model.

    In September 1984, with the approval of the former State Education Commission, Nankai University was among the first 22 universities in the country to pilot a graduate school. Since then, the graduate education of Nankai University has seen unprecedented development in terms of both the level and the scale of education and school management. It has embarked on a path of standardized and professional development.

    In the 30 years since the establishment of our Graduate School, Nankai University has always regarded discipline construction as its top priority, which in turn, gives a strong impetus to the development in other areas. Currently, there are 26 colleges (departments, institutes) and research units in Nankai University with postgraduate enrollment qualifications, covering 13 disciplines, namely Philosophy, Economics, Law, History, Literature, Education, Mechanics, Engineering, Medicine, Agriculture, Management Science, Military Science and Art. As an important institution responsible for the discipline construction planning of the whole university and the education of more than 10,000 postgraduates, the Graduate School of Nankai University has become a key one with great influence in China.
