近日，南开大学-格拉斯哥大学联合研究生院（以下简称“联合研究生院”）2025级新生说明会圆满落幕。本次说明会围绕新生适应、学业规划、项目介绍及注册指导等核心内容展开，为新同学快速融入联合研究生院大家庭、开启学习新征程提供了全面指引。
Recently, the Orientation Meeting for the 2025 Cohort of the Nankai University - University of Glasgow Joint Graduate School (hereinafter referred to as the JGS) concluded successfully. Focusing on core topics including adaptation, academic planning, program introduction and registration guidance, this orientation meeting provided comprehensive guidance for new students to quickly integrate into the JGS family and embark on their new academic journey.
首场宣讲会由联合研究生院学术院长理查德·贝里教授主讲。开场伊始，理查德教授代表联合研究生院向全体2025级新同学致以热烈欢迎。随后，理查德教授从多维度为新生系统梳理了联合研究生院的整体概况：不仅回溯了格拉斯哥大学的悠久学术传统与联合研究生院的建设发展历程，还详细解读了联合研究生院的行政架构、各专业项目主管教师配置，同时清晰介绍了中英联合授课模式，以及学习资源等多元化学习支持体系。通过生动的讲解，理查德教授为新生勾勒出清晰的学术框架，更传递了对大家未来学习的殷切期待。
The first information session was delivered by Professor Richard Berry, Academic Dean of the JGS. At the beginning of the session, on behalf of the JGS, Professor Richard extended a warm welcome to all new students of the 2025 cohort. Afterwards, he systematically outlined the overview of the JGS for the new students from multiple dimensions: he not only reviewed the long-standing academic traditions of the University of Glasgow and the development history of the JGS, but also elaborated on the administrative structure of the JGS and the allocation of program directors for each major. Meanwhile, he clearly introduced the Sino-British joint teaching model as well as the diverse academic support system including learning resources. Through his vivid presentation, Professor Richard sketched a clear academic framework for the new students and further conveyed his sincere expectations for their future studies.
针对研究生阶段的学习特点，理查德教授还专门分享了实用的学业技巧与建议。他重点强调，文献深度阅读是学术研究的基石、独立思考与自主学习是研究生的核心能力、规范引用是学术诚信的底线、科学时间管理是平衡学业与生活的关键。此外，为帮助新生建立严谨的学术规范意识，他还结合具体案例，细致讲解了抄袭的不同类型，并给出了避免抄袭的实操方法，为新生筑牢学术诚信防线。
In light of the learning characteristics of the postgraduate stage, Professor Richard also shared practical academic skills and advice. He emphasized that in-depth reading of literature is the cornerstone of academic research, independent thinking and self-directed learning are the core competencies of postgraduates, standardized citation is the bottom line of academic integrity, and scientific time management is the key to balancing academic studies and daily life. Additionally, to help new students develop a strong awareness of rigorous academic standards, he explained the different types of plagiarism in detail with specific cases and provided practical methods to avoid plagiarism, thus laying a solid foundation for the new students to uphold academic integrity.
第二场宣讲会由联合研究生院项目主管姚胜春老师主持，内容聚焦博士升学与暑期学术活动，为新生规划长期学业提供关键参考。姚老师首先为同学们清晰区分了格拉斯哥大学提供的两类博士项目：一类是由南开大学与格拉斯哥大学联合培养的“双博士项目”，毕业生可同时获得两校博士学位，适合希望深度参与中英联合研究的学生；另一类是格拉斯哥大学与国家留学基金委合作的“单证博士项目”，为学生提供优质海外学术资源支持，满足不同学业发展需求。
The second information session was hosted by Yao Shengchun, the JGS Program Manager. Focusing on PhD progression options and summer academic activities, the session provided key references for new students to plan their long-term academic paths. Mr.Yao first clearly distinguished between two types of PhD programs offered by the University of Glasgow for the students: one is the Dual PhD Program jointly delivered by Nankai University and the University of Glasgow, where graduates can obtain PhD degrees from both universities—this program is suitable for students who wish to engage deeply in Sino-British collaborative research; the other is the Single-Degree PhD Program co-developed by the University of Glasgow and the China Scholarship Council (CSC), which provides students with access to high-quality overseas academic resources and caters to diverse academic development needs.
随后，姚老师讲解了联合研究生院2026年暑期夏令营活动安排，包括项目的时长、费用、相关活动、申请要求与方式、特点与主题等主要信息，鼓励新生提前规划、积极参与。
Subsequently, Mr.Yao explained the arrangement of the 2026 Summer Camp of the JGS, covering key information such as the camp's duration, costs, activities, application requirements and methods, as well as its features and themes. He also encouraged new students to make early plans and actively participate.
在宣讲日的最后环节，姚老师针对新生注册流程开展专项指导。他通过实时演示与分步讲解，耐心引导每一位同学完成格拉斯哥大学官方系统注册，并详细说明后续Moodle 课程平台的登录、课程选择与资源查阅方法，确保新生能顺利衔接后续课程学习。截至目前，2025 级新生已全部完成注册流程，正式成为联合研究生院大家庭的一员。
In the final session of the orientation day, Mr.Yao provided special guidance on the new students' registration process. Through real-time demonstrations and step-by-step explanations, he patiently guided each student to complete the registration on the official University of Glasgow system. He also elaborated on the subsequent methods for logging into the Moodle course platform, selecting courses, and accessing resources, ensuring that new students could smoothly transition to their subsequent coursework. Up to now, all new students of the 2025 cohort have completed the registration process and officially become members of the JGS family.
今年正值联合研究生院成立十周年，在这个意义非凡的时刻，我们为同学们精心筹备了一场温馨的茶歇会。本次活动也邀请了各专业教师和行政老师共同参与，现场洋溢着浓厚的欢庆氛围，同学们的热情将整个活动推向高潮。
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the JGS. At this moment of great significance, we have carefully prepared a warm tea reception for the students. Teachers from various majors and administrative staff were also invited to participate in this event. The venue was filled with a strong festive atmosphere, and the students' enthusiasm brought the event to a climax.
此次新生宣讲会的顺利举行，不仅帮助新同学快速熟悉了联合研究生院的培养体系与学术规范，更点燃了大家的学习热情与探索动力。未来，联合研究生院将持续为学生提供优质学术资源与个性化支持，助力每一位学子在中英联合培养的平台上实现学术成长与个人发展。
The smooth holding of this new student orientation not only helped new students quickly familiarize themselves with the training system and academic norms of the JGS, but also ignited their enthusiasm for learning and motivation for exploration.
